I would like to throw out the idea of having an XBOX Team Rochester in-person LAN Party. We can do this in a number of different ways.
My initial thought is if we have enough interest we can reserve the common use room at one of our local libraries on an upcomming Saturday. I would be willing to provide the appropriate networking hardware to support a couple of dozen XBOXes. The attendees would have to bring their boxes, games and a TV or monitor to display on. We could get Pizza and refreshments delivered as well.
I've done these types of events in the past with PC LAN Parties and they are awesome. There's just nothing like having a room full of buddies playing their favorite games together!
Before I go trying to plan anything though I need your feedback. We would need at least 8 to 10 people minimum before I would move ahead. I would also like to know what libraries or other venues would work for you. Post your thoughts or e-mail me directly at [glow=yellow,2,300]GhostRiderTGAC@rochester.rr.com[/glow] Other ideas include a game launch party (i.e. if there is a new hot game coming out we could pool funds and buy in bulk and the get together for a LAN party and distribute the software)

Sounds exciting!!!!! I'm all for it. I could bring one of my 13" TV sets, or maybe buy a 19" (they're pretty cheap these days). This would also give all of us a chance to meet each other, get together, and exchange stories. As long as the venue was centrally located, I think we'd be in good shape. This way everyone is driving roughly the same distance. JD ;D

There are libraries all over Monroe and the surrounding counties so I don't think finding a venue will be a big issue.
I think you should definitely consider picking up a 19" set for toting with your box. Most of the new TVs also have front mounted RCA connections for quick connect. Wal-Mart or Target has great sales all the time.
I happen to have an old 19" that I use. I had to get an RF modulator to adapt it. It doesn't have the best picture but it's good enough for now.

I am all for a LAN party. I have a good location in mind. I just opened my new office in Brighton off Metro Park across from MCC. I have about 1200 square feet of space but access to two large areas for about 4000 square feet. Plenty of room and there are network connections already in place as well as power. Crash has seen it, he can tell you it would work well. Let me know if you want to check it out.

Sounds great to me Mike, we should set this up.
Chris, you've done this in the past, we need to talk about setting up a date for this.

Chris should come out first to the office and check it out and get an idea of how he wants to set it up.

I am interested initially on getting a list of interested parties. So far a few people have shown interest but I would really like to get at least 8 to 10 people who are definitely interested and then we can start some serious discussion. When I say 8 to 10 I also mean 8-10 consoles. If each console has a couple of guests thats OK too. We need top drum up some interest and so send people to this site to post replies so I know if I should start seriously organizing things!!!

I was kind of hoping more of our actual members would have registered and started posting by now, just to make sure everyone was seeing the new information as it came up.
Hopefully everyone is talking up the site to their friends and colleagues (especially to those who have XBOX's). as this is "OUR SITE".
I can post a new column on our main page to see who is interested, and then we can start working on some dates, if you think that would help.

JD ;D I registered the site with Google and plan to do the same with some of the other search engines so we can start getting some hits. I think people will be interested but they need to find our site. I think posting exciting and interesting content is important and I think we have already started to do this. I think it will simply take some time for us to drum up some support. It might also be a good idea for anyone affiliated with our site to look for other XBOX sites that we can get our name and a link on. If there are anly XBOX web rings and things this would also help our visability.

I think we are going to have to start putting this thing together now. We have the minimum number of gamers with consoles now and so we need to arrange the following:
[glow=yellow,2,300]1.) location - Thundar05 has volunteered that we use his open office space in Henrietta across from Monroe Community College (he is currently checking with insurance to make sure he has adequate coverage for our event)
2.) technology - we need to secure at minimum a 24-port 10/100 Ethernet hub, router (to assign IP addresses), power strips, and all the necessary ethernet cables.
3.) We need to agree upon a date that will work for the majority of people - It should be a Saturday from 9AM-9PM that way people could either come all day or when it is convenient.
4.) Refreshments - we need to make sure we have whatever you all are going to want to eat. Suggestions range from Pizza and wings to 6 foot Subway subs.
5.) We need to agree upon some games to play. Even though I like Halo 2, I don't want to spend the entire day just playing Halo 2. We should have a variety and we may want to arrange some tournaments with prizes. [/glow] Let me know if you have any additional ideas and thoughts. We are going to try and get confirmation on action items fairly quickly so don't waste time if you have an idea! We can't act at the last minute so we need to know early on. We want to make this an awesome and fune event. Tell your friends, colleagues, and family members. Even if theu don't own their own XBOX we can make room for guests to play on other systems!

With the exception of a couple of "verbal" committments, I have received no written confirmations from any of our new or existing members that they would be interested in participating in the event..
Maybe we should start throwing some dates out there and see if we get some feedback that way.

I have received enough verbal committments to make me think that the only way to move forward is to start the process. I have yet to hear from Thundar05 on his office situation so I think I am going to pursue the public libraries to see which ones will work the best. The advantage of using a library common room is that we would also have plentiful chairs and tables to setup on. Plus the library is already setup to handle club meetings. The disadvantage is that the library is usually only open until 5 or 6PM so we would have to conclude our gaming a bit early. I guess there is another alternative and that would be to make the first LAN party a private event. If we do this we could probably still use Thundar05's office or someone's garage. We limit the number of people to friends and relatives and we also would need to ask people to bring their own chairs and something to put their gear on. Let me know what you think? Iceman183, maybe you could put together an e-mail to the Team and solicit thoughts. We don't seem to have much activity here.
