There's been some speculation as to how many people are actually going to go out and drop some coin on the latest XBOX solution.
Let's take a vote now, and another one toward the Fall, and we'll see how the two compare.

I reserve my vote until we find out the burning question as to whether or not the 360 is backwards compatible and how much it will cost. I don't think there is much doubt in my mind that I will be buying a 360 but the answers to my questions will determine whether I am one of ther first in line.

Give me backward compatibility or give me... uh... more time to buy one? I dunno, something like that.

Well as many of you know I have already reserved my 360 at Gamestop in the Medley Center. If you expect a full review from me the day after it comes out, you will be disappointed though. My family is actually giving it to me for Christmas though I will be picking it up on release day to insure it's under my tree on the 25th. If you reserved your system prior to the announcement that Microsoft was coming out with a core system ($299.00) and a hard core system you will automatically be attached to the hard core ($399.00) SKU. This is what I would have gone for anyway as the hard core system comes with the following confirmed extras: - 20 GB Hard Drive
- Wireless Controller
- Headset for Live!
- HD Composite Video Cable
- Media remote control (limited time only)
- Silver Live! membership and one month Gold membership.
- extra software loaded on the hard drive (TBD)
Now I'm also looking forward to the fact that for an extra $40 you can pickup a VGA monitor to XBOX 360 direct connect cable. Now I can use my extra 17" VGA monitor when I go to LAN parties or if I want to take advantage of the HD better graphics as I don't yet have an HD television. In addition to all this coolness I have also read several articles online that indicate you will be able to take advantage of the Media capabilities of the 360 via your Windows XP PC and a little helper program called Windows Media Connect. You've probably already gotten it from Windows update. I'm looking forward to streaming TV programs I have recorded with my WinTV tuner card as well as having access to all my MP3 files and photos.

The announcement, made on the eve of Tokyo Game Show 2005, marked the first time that a game console will be launched in three territories in the same time frame. In preparation for what is expected to be massive worldwide demand for the new system, Microsoft also announced that Xbox 360 manufacturing is under way, with state-of-the-art facilities producing millions of units ultimately bound for frenzied gamers' homes from Osaka, Japan, to Oxford, England, and Orlando, Fla.
