In the business section of the Sunday D&C for May 29, there is a side by side comparison of the known specs on the the PS3, XBOX360 and Nintendo Revolution. It is not complete - they don't discuss what kind of audio or video they use, but there is some nice info. For example, the PS3 will include slots for Memory Stick, Secure Digital and CompactFlash memory cards. The Nintendo will include a slot for a Secure Digital card only. The 360 will include two "memory card slots" but they don't specify beyond that. My guess is they will be the proprietary slots like the current Xbox.
As of this writing, I personally plan to stay with the Xbox line. But I probably won't be getting a new one until sometime in 2006.
It sounds like Sony will have the most powerful processors of the three, coupled with Blu-Ray technology, so they may also have the best graphics in high-def. In addtion, the PS3 will support full high-def on up to two screens.
Of course, one of the key points is the question of backward compatibility. Sony says the PS3 will play original PS and PS2 games. Ninteno says that Revolution will play Gamecube discs, PLUS there will be downloadable access to 20 years of titles from NES, SuperNES and N64. Microsoft, on the other hand, is being a little vague right now. They simply say that "Xbox 360 will be backward-compatible with the top-selling Xbox games." So stuff like Halo and Ghost Recon will work just fine, but Brute Force - eh, probably not. The big plus with the Xbox though, is, of course, Xbox Live. That's where they really shine right now.
