I am looking to either obtain or build a modified headet that will alow me to port all of the XBOX sound as well as the Live! communicator sound to one set of stereo headphones with a book mic. I have a PC headset that I used to use for PC LAN gaming with Roger Wilco and I would llike to adapt it. I haven't found to much information on the subject and nobody seems to have a pre-built option for sale. I did check this out for reference: forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=347111&hl=headsetbut if anyone else has any bright ideas they would like to share I would appreciate them.

Actually the idea of integrasting voice w/sound is built into the Xbox.
Many games a a voice redirect to speakers...
Now all you have to do is get yourself an Y-adapter for your head set and there you go...

If you would like to be able to backup or trade save games I have put together a procedure to use an XBOX controller, memory card, and a PC USB controller adapter to download and upload save game data from your XBOX. 1.) Build or buy a PC USB adapter for your XBOX controller. To build the adapter all you need is an XBOX controller extension cord and a PC USB cable. Carefully cut the XBOX connector end off of the XBOX entension cable and strip back the wires. There are four wires and the correspond in color to the wires in the USB cable. Cut off and strip the USB cable leaving the PC end intact. Now join the two stripped cables together. I soldered and taped mine for added strength. Once you are done, disconnect the xbox connector from your XBOX joystick and plug in your new USB adapter cable. 2.) Download and install the XBOX Controller driver for windows at the following web site: www.redcl0ud.com/xbcd.html#download Note: if your memory card or communicator are plugged in when you install the driver they will be recognized as USB devices but no drivers will be installed. 3.) Download and install the Action Replay software: uk.codejunkies.com/downloads/XBOXAR_USsetup1_31.zip . A driver necessary to setup your memory card will be included with the installation package. 4.) in order to get the software to recognize your specific memory card you will need to edit the .inf file located in the Action Replay folder. You will need to add the VID information for the device. To obtain the VID information open the Device Manager and locate the unknown USB device (signified with a question mark). Right-click on it and choose properties. Click on the details tab. Write down the device instance ID exactly as it appears in the details. Next open the .inf file with Notepad and add a line to the devices section. Follow the same format as the other entries. If the VID entry for your device includes a '\' do not enter it or any of the information following the slash. Save the .inf file. 5.) go back to the device manager and right click the device and choose Update Driver. Choose to install from a specific location and browse to the location of the .inf file in the Action Replay folder. Installation should complete normally. 6.) Launch Action Replay with your joystick and memory card attached. You should see memcard listed in the left hand column. If you don't, unplug and reconnect your joystick. Note: My card didn't wouldn't accept save games initially so I formatted the card on my XBOX and tried again. Once this was done it worked perfectly. Let me know if this procedure was helpful to you or if you have any questions about the setup or operation. Eventually I would like to have a place on our new web site to store saved games so we can trade. This will be handy if someone unlocks speacial features of a game and would like to share these features. If you have any other nifty tricks I'd love to hear about them so post them!

There aren't many 'chips for the new 'Box, and most of them have the potential to muck with Live, but the homebrew scene is quite active on the original Xbox, here's a link to one of the best chips: www.xbox-modchips.com/xenium-solderless.htm no soldering required. SNES games, here we come!
